 John Champlin is the 1st great-grandfather of Belle Champlin (John Champlin, Erastus Champlin, Henry Charles Champlin, Birdie Belle Champlin).
 
 
John Champlin was born 28 September 1768 at Lyme, New London, Connecticut, son of Edward Champlin and Elizabeth Latham. He died aft. 1850. He married Ann Ray. They had 4 children. In 1807, he resided at Saybrook, Connecticut. He removed to New York. He removed to Leoni, Jackson, Michigan.

In 1850, John Champlin was 84, blind, and living with his daughter's family. Abel Fitch was a neighbor. Abel Fitch was a defendant in The Great Railway Conspiracy Case (detailed below).
