Deacon Joshua Raymond was born 3 Jan 1639 in Salem, Essex, Massachusetts. He died 24 Apr 1676 in New London, Connecticut. On 10 Dec 1652 he married to Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Reverend Nehemiah Smith and Sarah Ann Bourn. She was born 1645 in New Haven, Connecticut. She died 1 May 1712 in New London, Connecticut. They had 2 children?

Norwich, Connecticut
In 1658, Deacon Joshua Raymond removed from Salem to New London, where he purchased a house and lot at the corner of Parade and ___ streets. He was one of the original proprietors of Norwich, Connecticut. In Feb 1661, he was granted land in New London, south of the fort on the water side. In late 1664, he was present at Saybrook and Norwalk.

In 1668, Deacon Joshua Raymond with 2 others advanced 15 pounds the town of Norwich had agreed to pay Indian Chief Uncas and his sons for lands in settlement of boundary claims. He and the other 2 each received 200 acres of Mohegan Fields at Norwich.

In 1672, Joshua was cornetist in the first company of troopers of Norwich, Connecticut, and was later made commissary.

Upon Joshua's death, his wife as administrix of his will passed over his estate at Block Island, Newport, Rhode Island, to his brother-in-law, Oliver Manwaring.
