Constant Southworth @ Duxbury



Constant Southworth is the 6th great-grandfather of Belle Champlin (Constant Southworth, Mary Southworth, Elizabeth Alden, Patience Seabury, Elizabeth Latham, John Champlin, Erastus Champlin, Henry Charles Champlin, Birdie Belle Champlin).

Constant Southworth was born 1614 in Leyden, Holland, son of Edward Southworth and Alice Carpenter. He died 10 Mar 1678 in Duxbury, Plymouth, Massachusetts, ae 64. Constant married on 2 Nov 1637 in Plymouth, Massachusetts to Elizabeth Collier, daughter of William Collier. They had 8 children.

Following the death of his father, Constant came to the New World aboard the third vessel to Plymouth Colony in 1628 with his mother Alice, who was to marry William Bradford, the Governor of Massachusetts. He was educated by his stepfather. Constant was one of the early settlers of Duxbury when he removed there in 1633 at the age of 19. He was made a Freeman in 1637.
